Eternity Memory Of Light Waves

The song for this week is called Eternity Memory Of Light Waves, an OST from the anime Final Fantasy x-2. Had a bit of a problem learning the song because the melody is a little off beat from the rhythm. Was intentional by the composers, Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi.

  3. Sorry aaron, I don't. Have seen the program before and tried it, but i can't use it because I'm not musically trained, so I don't understand scores and how to express timing and beats in numbers. Sorry

  5. hey graham? for this song arent all the notes 3 frets higher? because i tried that way and it didnt sound right and i moved it up 3 frets and it worked. also on your video your playing on the 6th and 5th string for the begginning. Thank you :D

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, you're right, it's 3 frets higher. That's why it's indicated in the tuning that it's standard by Capo on 3rd fret. The Capo is the black device you see on my guitar's neck. It raises the guitar's tuning according to the fret it's clipped on.

    ReplyDelete
  7. oh i apologize. i did not know what a capo was. is there a way to play it without a capo? God bless :D

    ReplyDelete
  8. You can play it without a capo, but that just means you can't play along with the midi file. The tabs will still work out fine if you play it as it is

hi did u tab it wronge or
i dont see u play the 2 on the video O.o or is it just me?

  10. Thank you so much for that. I did make a mistake in tabbing that part out. Have made the corrections already. Thanks once again :P

  11. hm... so it wasnt just me :P u got any tip on playing the chorus? cant get it smooth with it. dont think u tab wronge ? or did u ? :P

or if u got spare time do a tutorial :P oh and thx for the tab between

  12. I tried out the chorus part. It's tabbed out correctly. Think the best way to go about learning the chorus part is to memorize where to place all the double-tone notes. It's a bit of a jumping up and down the fretboard.

The rest is just practice, practice and practice. No easy way to learn I guess. All the best! Will probably do an instructional pretty soon... hopefully :x

  13. wow man you are so good at playing the guitar. awesome job!

  14. about chorus....are u really sure about the tab? Couse' i tryied it...and i guess there are some 'not needed' notes...

like the second G note from this C9chord...i can't hear it in your song...

  15. Hey Catapral, the tabs are accurate. That's how I played it in the video, just that the midi file in the background probably makes it to hear every note i play clearly :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. yeap, you're right...i've played along with your song and your tab and it's absolutley corect tabbed... just that the first time i didn't know how to play it (it was a practice problem). By the way/ It's a lovely song to play!

  20. hello! i love this piece even though i can't play e guitar (: it sounds really great! hehe watching the split video makes me kinda wanna laugh cos it's so surreal, like watching fingers moving by themselves =) God bless!

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is really great! How long did it take you to learn it?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I took about 3hrs to learn it. Just watched it off another YouTuber who put up a video of himself playing it and mimicked what he did. The user is called blitzwater by the way :P

    ReplyDelete
  23. Haha! It's taken me 3 days to learn the verse and part of the chorus :p

    ReplyDelete
  24. so ummm ive learned the whole thing..just need to get it smooth and stuff
    but ummm
i see u pressing the 5th string on the 2nd fret in the verses...but i dont see that in the tab..why?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey seteki,
Yeah, I press that string although I did not play it. I tend to press unnecessary strings because I play the chord (e.g. Em for the part you're talking about).
You can do without it if you want, but it helps me to remember songs, cause I remember them by chords :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. ooo that's why
thx now i learned a new thing haha

    ReplyDelete
  27. woo. this one's a beast. nice one getting it on tabs o_o

any tips for playing the chorus? it's up there next to "woo that's gonna be tough to play" >_<

    ReplyDelete
  28. The chorus is pretty tough because of all the movement, playing the melody line along with the chords.

Good thing is that the melody line can be easily pressed, because they're not too far off from the chord formation. Harder part would be the sliding up and down for the double tone part.

Play the song slowly first, if it's too fast to keep up with. Keep practicing until you're good at memorizing where and how the chords are played. Then progress on by increasing your tempo until you finally reach the correct speed for the song.

    ReplyDelete
  29. any possibility of you posting one that doesn't have the midi file playing in the background? i'd like to be able to hear just the guitar so i can pick up the rhythm better.

it's cool if you don't want to.. but it would be awesome :D

    ReplyDelete
  30. Simply amazing, I loved it, you have alot of talent and putting it into tabs was even better. I hope to learn it and play it as good as you do some time.

Also, if the Capo is on the 3rd fret and you type "3" in the tabs, does it mean I actually play the 6th note?

Like is it 3 notes from the Capo?

Idk if you understand me lol.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey, thanks for the compliment. Yeah, you count the notes from where you place the capo. It's easier that way, than to count from the original.

Have fun learning the song! :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. First of all, I must really thank you for this tab, seeing as there is no guitar pro tab for it. Secondly, I worked with yours and basically could get it to work with somewhat right timing. [A bit off when it comes to the fast sliding part.] I even could transport it to a different tune to make it better for me. ;3 Thanks again. Maybe I could give it to you on guitar pro so you can see if it works for you as well. After all, you were the one who tabbed it in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey, thanks for the offer. I know GuitarPro's an excellent tool for guitarists to tab out their songs and learn from them. Only problem for me is that I don't know how to read musical notes cause I'm not formally trained. Also, there's the issue with beats and rests and what not. Heh.

For the time being, until I've learned how to read and write notes, with their musical notations, I'll stick to the tabs i'm writing. Feel free of course to put it on the GuitarPro programme. Just remember about the Creative Commons :)

  34. Thank you, the tabs and video are more than helpful. -L0bsterslayer

    ReplyDelete
  37. i tried that ,but it doesnt sound right mayb its just me..
    thanks doe!

  38. amazing song and i think you are really talented to be able to play this song! this is going to take me some time haha how long it take you to learn this perfectly?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I took about 3hrs to learn it. Just watched it off another YouTuber who put up a video of himself playing it and mimicked what he did. The user is called blitzwater by the way :P

  41. Thanks a bunch for putting up these tabs they help a lot i just started so i cant play the full song yet but im working on it...Very Nice Job

    ReplyDelete
  42. Man I just want to let you know how awesome this is. I'm not musically inclined at all but I would kill to be able to play this, so I've been looking for piano sheet music all day and then I stumbled upon this video, the first guitar version I've heard. The most amazing part is that you dedicated this to God. This song means a lot to me even though there aren't any lyrics. I could say a lot of things, but I think I'll leave it at that and just say how happy I am to discover this. God bless bro!

    ReplyDelete
  43. First of all thanks for the tab, and really great job for the playing part.

The chorus is really though I'm trying but I don't get it right...semms that when i need a high note i play a low note, don't fit the melody xD Well, juste need to work it I guess.

    Great blog!

    ReplyDelete
  44. hey i just want to know that is it possible to have the device (capo) on my guitar, cause my guitar not electric guitar.
    Sorry noob here ^^)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hey there, there are capos for acoustic, classical, and electric guitars, so you can use a capo for whichever guitar you have :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. thanks so much for doing this! just discovered this tune and had to learn it immediately. the tabs all seem correct, i think what's tripping some people up is the rather tricky rhythm, or maybe the piano going in the background. nice job, thanks again!
