I'm Yours

A worship song by Planet Shakers. In Philippians 3:7-11, Paul writes to the church, "But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead."

Such was Paul's conviction for Christ, that no matter what the cost for him, knowing Christ was paramount and above all things. Life on this earth entices us to living a worldly life - a life that hungers for material wealth, for status, for recognition. And although these may seem like profit to us, can we like Paul consider them a loss, compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ our Saviour? It is a high calling, no less deserving of a true follower of Christ. Help us oh Lord to have the same passion Paul had for You and Your gospel. So no matter what the cost I will go for You, no matter what it takes, I'm Yours.

Hear Our Praises

A worship song by Hillsong. In Psalm 96:1-4, the psalmist writes, "Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods."

We are called to sing praises to our God, to declare His glory among the nations. And the psalmist clearly states at least two reasons why and how we should. Firstly, to proclaim His salvation daily. Indeed the Israelites had every reason to proclaim God's salvation for them, in rescuing them from slavery in Egypt. Likewise, Jesus has rescued us from slavery to sin, and we have every reason to proclaim His salvation. Secondly, to declare His glory and marvelous deeds. God sustained the Israelites in the wilderness miraculously by providing them sustinence and victory in battle. His awesome presence and glory also caused them to be in awe and fear of Him. Likewise, God remains the same yesterday, today and forever. He is ever glorious and still working wonders, the greatest of them being Christ's sacrifice for us sinners. Indeed, we shall sing praises to our God. Hear our praises rise to You! Hallelujah!
