Going Home

Yay it's Chinese New Year week! Really feeling in a good mood since the money's coming in, so I've decided to post up the next song in advance! This one's called Going Home by Shiro Sagisu. Who? Well, maybe it'd be more familiar if I said "Bleach soundtrack!"

Well, got to hear this song from the Bleach anime (my favourite anime!), and it's usually played during the sad parts and stuff. It was most recently played in the recent episode when Ichigo apologies to Inoue for not being able to be of much help against the Espada. So here it is for your listening pleasure. Tabs are below. Enjoy!

Also, here's an instructional video on how to play the song. Explains how you play some chords and what to look out for. Hope it helps.

thx for the tabs

Anonymous said...

hey, thanx a bunch.
I just wanna ask if the tab was right, because it is a little different from the way you play (only 2).

Graham Choo said...

Hi, I could have made some mistakes while writing the tabs (Happens when I deal with too many numbers).
I'll try to look through it, but would be faster if you could indicate to me where the mistakes were. Thanks

Anonymous said...

sry it takes me so long to reply, it's kinda hard for me to point anything out because im a total dummy when it comes to music.
It's at the C minor, which u hit the chord and then every string of that chord, the last string is different. not sure this would point it out. I love ur works btw.

Graham Choo said...

Thanks so much. I've found the error and rectified it :P

cool.. thanks for the tabs! XD

this is amazing. Your awesome dude. I love bleach and I love this song and now i can finally learn to play this beautiful piece. Thank you!!

Anonymous said...

Thanks man!! I've got another tab of going home, but this one's alot easier to play ^^ I'm gonna learn it soon! Bleach is my favorite anime ^^ (you played the song awesome btw)

Peace.

fantastic. I was looking around for tabs for this and couldn't find any anywhere. You are a lifesaver.

To give you a time-frame of when I started looking, I was on episode 34 and now I'm caught up to episode 138.

Though, that's not week to week episodes >,>

Anonymous said...

Heh. Just started lessons 1 month ago. I've actually been playing for about 3 or 4 months though. This song is really awesome. It's all coming out nicely until the barre chord with the first finger on the third fret. The third string just wont sound for me. It might be because my guitar sucks, or maybe my fingers are weak/small. I'm only 13. >,> Hope they grow a lot more.

Awesome ! U're cool ! Thanks for the tutorial, i should practise it right now :) Nice song !

wow. awesome dude. i love your bro's praise songs too. they must play some of them differently in singapore cuz i'm learning new stuff from old songs.

Anonymous said...

awesome tab man! really great transcribed... but the chord names you wrote down were a little wrong

Graham Choo said...

Hey yeah, I tried my best to put chord names to it, but that's not my strong point, 'cause I'm not musically trained. If you can tell me the right chords, that'd be great. I'll do the necessary changes. Thanks :)

Anonymous said...

really nice job with the tab and the video man. I took a look at this a while back and I couldn't do most of it. But I'm better now and got a me a better guitar :) I got some of it down already and will be learning more of it.

Thanks again for the awesome tab!

Anonymous said...

you're the best man but a lot of those bar chords kills my index finger

Graham Choo said...

Bars chords usually do if you play them for too long in a sitting. My hand starts to cramp! Haha. But keep practicing and you should be able to play it well :)

Anonymous said...

Damn, I want to play this song, but I can't understand all this, lol...

Graham Choo said...

Hey ff2_pilot, you can try to learn how to read tabs. I've written a crash course at http://grahamchoo.blogspot.com/2007/08/how-to-read-tabs.html

thank you very much. thank you for taking your time making this tab and helping other people! you deserve much honor. :)

uh hey Great job but alot of your videos are down or something Whats youtube doing?

Graham Choo said...

Hey Burnie,
I've checked through the videos, they're fine. I think there might be some problems with your video loading. Try deleting the caches and reloading the video again.

Anonymous said...

NIce job man. because of you, i can now impress ppl ;D

Anonymous said...

you guys are awesome! thanks to you, i can now play "going home" and my mom is happy with it! lol. not kidding, though.

i feel pretty bad because if you guys are the ones who really tabbed "going home", then somebody is "owning" your tabs. why do i say so? the tabs you posted here is THE SAME tabs that i found in Ultimate-Guitar(dot)com. the link is here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/b/bleach/going_home_tab.htm

good thing is, i reported to the Ultimate-Guitar admin that tab.

anyway, thank you guys and more power! i noticed that you have so many religious songs too. i also like them.

Anonymous said...

you should try powertab its simple enough and its free

Graham Choo said...

Hey Anon E. Mous, thank you so much for alerting me. I did write the tabs out myself, and feel that at least I should get some credit for it. I also reported the tabs as well... heh.

Am glad that you were able to benefit from both the tabs and video. It is a really beautiful song :)

Graham Choo said...

Hey, people have told me about powertab, but the thing is, I don't know how to read all the timings and notes and stuff. Only know how to write the numbers down, heh.

Anonymous said...

Hey Graham,

Nice tab, and you're right that first chord is a bit of a stretch. I've only just recently picked my classical guitar up and I fell in love with this piece (and Bleach too!) and picked it up just especially for this song. Ive been doing guitar for years. I can play Leyenda - Issac Ibanez, but i cant play this song easily for some reason. Alot of 'dud' notes. I guess I have to practice more and get that pinkie stretching again. :) Lovely work and look forward to your further blogs and videos. Love from Perth, Western Australia - Jarrad

Anonymous said...

I wish my fingers were just a little bit long...It would make this so much easier.

Anonymous said...

Hi graham! I recently started playing the guitar and this happens to be one of the songs i want to learn and u play it so well ><. im not sure if im right or not but i think you play the following part:

e|-------1-5-6-5-6-5-----5-5-5-6-5h6-5---------------------|
B|-----3-----------6-6-8-6-6-6-6-6---5---------------------|
G|---2-------------6-----7-7---------4---------------------|
D|-----------------------------------3---------------------|
A|-1---------------0---------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------3---------------------|

Like this in your video:

e|---------5-6-5-6-5-----5-5-5-6-5h6-5---------------------|
B|-----3-----------6-6-8-6-6-6-6-6---5---------------------|
G|---2-------------6-----7-7---------4---------------------|
D|-3---------------------------------3---------------------|
A|1----------------0---------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------3---------------------|

just making sure ^__^
thanks for the hard work!

Mike

Anonymous said...

hmm that didnt turn out too right but i hope u understand ><

Graham Choo said...

Hey mike, thanks for that observation! I realized that I was missing that note you wrote about in the tabs. Have added that in :)
Thanks once again for you input!

Anonymous said...

Beautiful guitar playing and the tabs are great. theres so much i want to say to thank you for this XP

Anonymous said...

Hey Guys!

Thanks for tabbing this song and doing all the videos. It's one of my favourites. I'm really going to enjoy learning to play it.

Cheers,
J

holy shit this s rly hard!

Anonymous said...

I can't see what you are doing here I've tried to play this part but every time I keep getting a wierd sound...

6-----6-5-----5-4-----4-7-------|
5---5---4---4---3---3---8-------|
7-7-----6-6-----5-5-----7-------|
5-------4-------3-------8-------|

Graham Choo said...

Hey, actually the part you pointed out is just playing a simple barre chord on the 5th fret, from 5th string onwards (Dm), and progressing downwards in the same shape to 4th (C#m) and 3rd fret (Cm). The last chords is played by using your index to barre 7th fret 4th to 2nd string, middle on 8th fret 5th string, and ring on 8th fret 3rd string.

Anonymous said...

Man =/ the tabs are great and the vid is great but I don't know how to play with my fingers like that! T^T I've gotten through almost half the song strumming regularly and it sounds decent...but..yeah its not right DX can you tell me the name of the style you are playing so I can go read up on it and practice it before coming back to this?

Unknown said...

R U using a left hand guitar? and i also wanted to ask u how long it took and to congratulate u!!! XD.

Graham Choo said...

Hey, it's just normal plucking of the guitar strings, no magic to it. How it differs from strumming is that instead of playing all the strings at once (which strumming does), you play only certain strings at a time.
The tabs will help a lot because it tells you which strings to pluck at a time :)

Graham Choo said...

Hey daudi, I'm using a standard guitar which is played by using the left hand to form the chords, and the right hand to strum. Left-hander guitars are the other way around :)
Also, thanks! It took me about 3-4 hours straight of practicing the song before I posted the video :)

Anonymous said...

from australia, thank you for efforts, its really hard to find good quality anime tabs and you play it so well. keep up the great work

Hi, I was just wondering if there was an extra note in this part"

F Bb Am D7
e|---------------------0-----------------------------------|
B|-5-6-5-6-5-3\1-1---1---4---------------------------------|
G|-5-5-5-5-5-----0-0-----5---------------------------------|
D|-5-7-5-7-5-----2-------4---------------------------------|
A|-8-------------0-------6---------------------------------|
E|---------6-----------------------------------------------|

It seems like to be there was extra E note played after the Am chord.

F Bb Am D7
e|---------------------0-----------------------------------|
B|-5-6-5-6-5-3\1-1---1---4---------------------------------|
G|-5-5-5-5-5-----0--0----5---------------------------------|
D|-5-7-5-7-5-----2-2-----4---------------------------------|
A|-8-------------0-------6---------------------------------|
E|---------6-----------------------------------------------|

Graham Choo said...

Hey gwntd123, I've checked the tabs on the blog for the part you were asking about, and it's accurate to what I played. The E note is played just before the D7 chord.

byter said...

thanks a lot! how long did it take to learn this song?

Graham Choo said...

Hey byter, thanks! It took me about 3-4 hours non-stop of figuring out the chords from a Youtube video, and practising and memorising the song :)

love the song too much, got a acoustic guitar and im new to everything yet don`t know if this is too hard for me to start out on but i don`t care i wanna play it to myself to sooth me. Hard work determination. just learned about tabs through google. I just got a plucking problem and muting my strings.

Yeps! It's normal tuning :)

sir you are the MAN!!!! thank you this is the reason why I bough my guitar (and to learn flamenco) thank you SO MUCH BRODA! :D your way of playing is most excellent by the way. keep practicing!!

Anonymous said...

Tabs are great, my fingers are too short to reach some frets and I can't do bar chords there too hard. I'd love to play this song, but I just can't.

Anonymous said...

Hi first of all thanks for the post and instruction video. Definitely couldn't have learned it without.

I don't know if I am listening to a different version... but I noticed a few discrepancies from the OST I found on YouTube. So I figure I'll point them out, see what you think.

Anyways, here they are:
2nd line - it's just 5,6,5,6, on e without the 3's on b. Right after that, the 6\0 and 6\4 doesn't really make sense... from what I can hear they should just not be there.
3rd line - the Dm chord includes the base open string d (0765 chord)
4th line - the Gm is a Gm7 and it's a 3 on the d string instead of 5.

This is as far as I've worked on for now. If I find some more I'll let you know. Hope this helps! Again thanks for the post.

Anonymous said...

Hey man! Great work on the tabs! I have about 30 seconds of the song down xD Ima keep goin of course! One thing though, what is the plucking pattern to this song? I try and copy the way you do it on your instructional youtube vid but for some reason it doesnt come out loud enough. Do you use an amp? I can play this song by strumming but not by plucking. Any suggestions?

Graham Choo said...

Hey there,

I don't use an amp for the plucking. I'm guessing that the sound doesn't come out well because the chords are pressed properly.

Some of the chords are a bit of a stretch, or with lots of barring. So you've gotta ensure that you're pressing down hard in order to hear the plucking clearly.

Hope that helps. All the best! :)

How can i print these?

Graham Choo said...

Hey there,

You can either:
1. Print directly from the website
2. Copy and paste into Microsoft Word and print from there
3. If the alignments are off in (2), then copy and paste it into .txt file and print
