Rescue

RescueA worship song by Desperation Band. In the Old Testament, David sang in Psalm 31 a song asking God to rescue him from his enemies, King Saul who wanted to take his life. Although most of us may not be facing such dire situations nowadays, calling on Jesus to come to our rescue can take on a different and more significant meaning. For David, it was rescue from physical death, for us, spiritual and eternal death.

In Luke 19:10, Jesus says to Zacchaeus the tax collector who has had a change of heart, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost". Indeed He has come to rescue us sinners from eternal death which is the penalty of sin. But while His death has enabled us to be rescued, there is one condition - that we follow and believe in Him. This world has nothing for me, I will follow You.
