Hear Our Praises

Hear Our PraisesA worship song by Hillsong. In Psalm 96:1-4, the psalmist writes, "Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods."

We are called to sing praises to our God, to declare His glory among the nations. And the psalmist clearly states at least two reasons why and how we should. Firstly, to proclaim His salvation daily. Indeed the Israelites had every reason to proclaim God's salvation for them, in rescuing them from slavery in Egypt. Likewise, Jesus has rescued us from slavery to sin, and we have every reason to proclaim His salvation. Secondly, to declare His glory and marvelous deeds. God sustained the Israelites in the wilderness miraculously by providing them sustinence and victory in battle. His awesome presence and glory also caused them to be in awe and fear of Him. Likewise, God remains the same yesterday, today and forever. He is ever glorious and still working wonders, the greatest of them being Christ's sacrifice for us sinners. Indeed, we shall sing praises to our God. Hear our praises rise to You! Hallelujah!

I know that you taught the strumming pattern correctly, but I'm kind of having a hard time transitioning from strumming slow (from the instructional) to fast (how the actual song is played). I have this problem with other fast songs. Do you have any suggestions?

Hey, I think maybe you haven't familiarized yourself with the strumming pattern yet. Once you're able to play the song slowly, and without having to concentrate a lot on the thinking about the strumming pattern while playing the song, then I think progressing to the original speed shouldn't be a problem.

Just keep playing at a pace you're comfortable with, and practice playing to the point where you don't need to consciously think of the strumming patterns (ie. until it becomes natural). God bless!

Hey! It's been a year since I've stumbled onto your God of Wonders tutorial, and I just wanted to say that God has really used you and your brother to introduce the guitar into my life. God of Wonders is the first song I've ever learned to play and sing. And after learning it I learned many more worship songs and eventually I became my youth group's worship leader, and started teaching other youth the songs you taught me.

You're really making a difference by making these videos! Keep it up!

God Bless!
