Flood

FloodA Christian contemporary song by Jars Of Clay. I really like how the lyrics use the imagery of a flood and storm to represent the state of our lives. In Mark 4:35-41, we read of an incident when Jesus and His disciples were caught in a storm, and how He calmed the storm with just three words, "Quiet! Be still!" (Mark 4:39)

Who is this Jesus whom even wind and waves obey (Mark 4:41)? Peter confessed that Jesus was the Christ (Mark 8:29), and all power and authority has been given to Him on heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18). This is the Christ who freely offers us salvation, not from the storms in our lives, but more so through our helplessness and depravity, that all who turn to Him will be saved!

It's the first contemporary christian song I have heard when I was a pre-believer but it has left a deep impression on me. You guys made a great acoustic cover of it! Well done!

Hey Graham,

May I ask what strumming pattern your using? A friend and I are going to attempt to play this song.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks and God bless!

Hey Isaac,
Actually we're both playing about the same strumming patterns, just different chords because Daniel is playing with a capo.
You can follow the strumming patterns on pdf given in the blog post :)

hi, first of all thanks for the very decent instuctional and tabbing.

I have this problem with my 4th string. It keeps making this ugly sound, as well on my western as my electric guitar. I have tuned it properly, but when I put my capo on and I play this string, my tuning device says it's in 3G way too high.

what should I do to get a decent note there?

Greetings, Kenny.

Graham Choo said...

Hey Kenny, what do you mean by ugly sound?
If the string is tuned properly, then it should be in the key of D. (4th string counting from the bottom).
If however after you've tuned it to D, but when you play a chord, the 4th strings sounds out of tune, it could be that your guitar's neck has warped.
This means that the neck has bent slightly due to temperature, and hence the strings sound slightly out of tune.

when you say tuning e-a-b-e-b-e (instead of normal tuning) is the 4th string D tuned down to B and the G 3td string tuned down to e?

Hey there, yes that's correct :)
