Lamb Of God

A worship song by Twila Paris. John the Baptist uses the term "Lamb of God" in John 1:29, who takes away the sin of the world. And this was the purpose of sacrificing of the lamb during the Old Testament. Hebrews 9:6-8 tells us that the high priest would offer an animal sacrifice once a year for himself and the sins of the people, for without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22). But the sacrifice of the Lamb of God was once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18).

The blood of Christ shed on the cross satisfied God's wrath that was meant for us. It was the ultimate sacrifice in that no other sacrifice is needed. Our sins have been forgiven because of Christ, not ourselves. So let us respond in thankfulness and joy at His great love - Oh Lamb of God, I love the holy Lamb of God, Oh wash me in Your precious blood, my Jesus Christ the Lamb of God!
