Give Us Clean Hands

Joel's WindowA worship song by Charlie Hall. A simple tune whose lyrics are taken from Psalm 24:3-6. In it, King David writes, "Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the LORD, and vindication from God his Saviour. Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who see Your face, O God of Jacob. Selah."

In summary, God requires us to have a right relationship with Him. We are to keep ourselves clean and pure, away from the evil things and desires of this world. We are to place Him as the number one priority in our lives, over our ambitions, ministry, and even family. We are only to seek the one true God among all the other gods of this world. And the Lord will surely be with us.

heyy graham, i belive dats ur bro playing the song but i have a question..is da strummin diff fron the 1st video nd the instructional video? i think in da 1st video da strumming is [d udud udud du] nd 4 da instructional its [d dudud ddu]...

Hey jenesis, you're right! The strumming pattern from the video and the instructional differs. I think my brother changed it intentionally because it's easier to play the one stated in the instructional video ( D D UDUDD DU).

However, if you want, you can also play D UDUD UDUD DU. They're both interchangeable with this song. God bless and have fun learning the song! :)

I love your videos! I'm just learning the guitar and I am having the most trouble with the strumming patterns. I'm having trouble getting the beat. Are these two patterns in a 4 beat?

D D UDUDD DU

D UDUD UDUD DU

If I keep the hand motion going what ones am I skipping? Is there anything you recommend that would help?

Hi halfpop. Yes, both the strumming patterns can be played in a 4 beat song. However, it doesn't always work for all 4 beat songs because it depends on the varying tempos as well.

I don't really get your second question.

That's cause I don't have a clue what I'm talking about :-) hahahaha thanks for the help though

I think it sounds nicer if you play D/F# instead of Dsus

Haha, that's the beauty of playing the guitar - you can play a song in so many ways, so it's not so rigid all the time :)

sorry to bring an old post back to life, but halfpop's second question relates to the way i'm learning rhythm guitar. never let your hand stop. the strumming pattern is 16th note strumming; there are 8 downstrums in a bar. the pattern only shown only has 6, so the question is which two do i skip?

it sounds like the ones in parentheses?

D D (D)UDUD D (D) DU

Hey jackson, thanks for trying to clarify Halfpop's questions.
I don't know if I'm understanding it correctly, but while if you say a 16 note strumming has 8 downstrums in a bar, then this is how the 6 strumming pattern works:

12 34 567 8
D D UDUDD DU

Not sure if I've answered your question :)
