Potter's Hand

The Potter's HandA worship song by Hillsong. The imagery of God being the potter and we being the clay can be seen in Isaiah 64:8 where it says, "Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are the work of your hand." Interestingly enough, the particular imagery in the Bible speaks of judgment if you read it in context. Jeremiah 18:5-12 would also shed more light on that aspect. God, like the potter, has formed and shaped us. He can thus destroy us if we continue in our sinful ways and not turn to Him for forgiveness.

However, apart from that dreadful aspect of God being the potter, He too is in total control of our lives. God empowers us through His Spirit, ever continually shaping us to be who he intended us to be in Him. While we may stumble from time to time, His Spirit convicts us, picks us up, and keeps us going ever onward. Under the potter's hand, we are slowly being made perfect, and will be, when Christ comes again.
